It's interestint to try to interpolate the progression of plane 884. Each image has it in a different level of destruction. Was it repaired and then trashed again or was it just used for parts?

If I remember correctly, #883 was one of the airplanes Boyington flew on one of his last missions, actually the day before he was shot down. #884 might be the one that Denny Groover surveyed on 9/23/43...According to Bruce Gamble's book, I couldn't find a #884, but his sources could be wrong. #844 in Gamble's book was overturned on 12/17/43 by Lt. Moore; damage would definitely be a crushed vertical as in the pix of #884.

Be interesting to see what Nelson Ezell could do with that boneyard if only it was located in Breckinridge!
