Going through Seattle yesterday and had to say hi to the Jug

Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:01 pm

I went to Seattle for the heck of it, and stopped by the Museum of Flight on the way home. I'd been there dozens of time already, but I decided I wanted some halfway decent shots of the Jug and the Jeep they have there. Naturally, I forgot my tripod and it's a dark as the inside of a cow in there!
So I placed the camera on the edge of a display, held it down and tried a long exppsure without a tripod:

Then, I laid the camera on the ground at the base of the Jug, threw some lens covers under it and got this shot:

I just wish they'd do something with the Jeep, it's in a ETO display with stateside training markings...

I like it. The floor view gives a different perspective of the Jug and with the long exposure you can get a decent photo in pi$$ poor lighting. I tried the same approach at the Canadian Museum of Flight the other week, I set the camera on a post (the one holding the rope to keep people away from the aircraft), set it for a long exposure, set the timer and let the camera go to work with the below results.

I'll try the same technique next time I visit the MoF.

Brian.
