My Year In Review

Sun Dec 28, 2008 8:50 pm

Well sports fans, its that time of the year again!

Here's my favorite photos from each event from this year.

Less talk, more pictures.

We'll kick the fiesta off with my pictures at the beginning of the summer, when my dad flew Midwest Texans' 2nd Signature Restoration, while I did a photoshoot of him. After we did the shoot, dad went to fly the test flights on the freshly rebuilt airplane, so I went and flew with him. Nothing like building up T-6 dual!

Next up was the Battle Creek/Goshen airshow. I was invited up by The Starfighters, and I went up for a behind the scenes weekend with the team. WOW what a show!

I was then invited by Tim Savage to go back to Midwest Texans for the photo-shoot on their 3rd restoration, this tastefully rebuilt T-6D for Nathan Davis.

I worked at long-time warbird owner Tom Wood's hangar this year. One of the highlights for me was getting to do ground-runs on some of the airplanes. I ran the T-6, and jumped out and got into the Mustang, and ran it too! This made me giddy like a kid at Christmas! Wear earplugs kids.

I also had the opportunity to help do an annual on a purchased Stearman. Here's some pictures of our work.

I was fortunate enough to get a ride in this one-off, custom airshow Stearman.

I also managed to set up a rare photoshoot at the Indy airshow. More pictures later :)

Every year my dad and I go to Kokomo, more specifically Glenndale Airport, and participate in a charity event for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. We've done this for a few years running now. This year I flew the T-6 up with dad, and also flew 4 times that weekend.

This picture is of me flying, and my dad in the back.

We also flew with Nathan Davis while he flew his T-6.

I also had the wonderful opportunity to shoot Nathan's "Checkertail" Birds. Dad flew Nathan's T-6, while Nathan flew his Mustang.

Dad flew all day for 2 days straight. He gave rides for the SMA charity for something like 60 dollars per ride. Well worth it!

There was a Red Star formation clinic down the road from me, at Mount Comfort airport. I went to shoot some ground shots, but luckily got a T-6 ride too!

Dad and I also flew the T-6 to Paris, Illinois for a T-6 gathering...

My main weapon is my Nikon D-70s, I've got a variety of lenses, ranging from a 11mm wide-angle to a 400mm Vibration Reduction Telephoto lense.

Ho-hum year? I was pretty darn fortunate on this one! Thanks Hacker!
