It was pretty amazing to see this, and authentic zero. So crazy to think about how few of these are left. I'm pretty sure its not boring to fly.

This thing really captured my attention, too. I was talking about it with my dad, and I swear the fuselages, while looking like regular p-51s, are bigger than a normal one. Anyone have any insights? Anyways, pretty interesting plane. I've heard about a lot of the crazy projects from WWII, but haven't seen anything like this in real life before.

I had been meaning to post these for a while, but my computer was having some issues. I know they're a bit late, but hope someone can still get some enjoyment out of them.


Ok, I couldn't get the pictures to work so I just deleted the [img] tags, so they'll at least work as links. I'm sure theres a thread somewhere that would tell me how to get them to work, but I really just did this tonight because I needed a bit of a break from writing my paper on Anglo Saxon literature.

We saw this at (I think?) the Amarillo airport. We weren't sure what it was, but my dad figured someone on here would have a better idea.

'Tis a Republic F-84F Thunderstreak. I believe that this example was part of the now defunct English Field Air and Space Museum.

The serial number is 52-6553... it's not listed in the warbird registry, but if anyone wants to cross reference it, here's some info from Joe Baugher's site:

Drister Aviation and Space Museum, Amarillo, TX. Noted recently at English Field Air & Space Museum, Tradewind AP, Amarillo, TX. In 1987 was at Florence Air and Missile Museum, Florence, SC

Wow... that looks like an amazing trip. I loved the cloud shot over the front cockpit by the way. I hope that you don't mind me slightly editing your post so that the images actually appear in it. Just use the IMG command, instead of the URL one. I just thought that your story needed to have the illustrations right there.... Many thanks for posting these images...

Hey, thanks for fixing that for me. I tried using the image tags, and used the address from the properties of the pics, not the address bar, but it didn't work for some reason.

Like I already said, it was after a ridiculously long night of studying, so I wouldn't be too surprised if I was just not being the brightest.
