I was with Keith yesterday and Volume 2 of his book "Australian-Built Aircraft and the Industry" is well into the layout phase. All the text is written and typed and now hundreds of photos and drawings are being scanned and the page layout being started. Volume 2 covers Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, including the license production of the NA-36 (known locally as the Wirraway), the Mustang and the Sabre. Keith pointed out that he still has stock of his first volume, which covers Australian aircraft production from 1884 to 1939. For US enthusiasts, there is detailed coverage of the following American designs built in Australia: Heath Corben Georgias Special Long Longster Gerber Monoplane Pietenpol There are also details of negotiations between Australian companies and promoters of proposals by American aircraft companies to have the products built in Australia: Thomas Morse Douglas (DC-3) Northrop Lockheed Vega Sikorsky flying boats Boeing 247 Stinson Model A (and others) Rearwin Taylorcraft Volume 1 is comprised of two large hardcover books in a boxed set. The weight of the books for shipping is 5.2 kg (11.5 lb). Keith has reduced the price to A$190 (postage is extra).
