See my post in the hangar of the same name for samples of the book in PDF format. The story of my father's days in 43 through the end of the war. It is told using letters he wrote home to his folks.

It starts when he arrives in San Antonio for flight training. 250 pages of letters, stories, and photos.

The disc is $20 with $10 going to Scott to help support the WIX board. Remainder covers the cost of production and Priority Mail.

scott, i'll give ya plug to help..... scott sent me a book version of his work / dad's letters a few years back & i can state that it is a quite moving compilation of his dad's ww2 flying experience. nostalgic, & well presented, & from a 1st person point of view which is a unique approach. it felt like he wrote the letters to me!!! great stuff!! & for a good cause too!!

I have to say thank you to Scott for taking the time to scan these priceless views into the mind of a fledgling combat fighter pilot. I don't think I did a minute of work the day I recieved my copy. I was 100% absorbed into the letters, pictures and commentary so beautifully preserved by Scott's Dad and his family.
If only every veteran kept track of his/her experiences.

Wow! Thanks for the kind words. It was exactly for the reasons you describe that I undertook this project.

I think that the more people who view it, the better they will understand what our parents and grandparents went through and thought.

Dad was no hero, not an Ace, just a good pilot doing his job. He loved the flying and as he said many times, he loved the training and everything about the experience. John Dinou reinforces that in his foreward to the book.

In my conversations with John before he passed, they were just kids who wanted to fly big, fast airplanes. To quote Dad, "Gee, this is swell!"

I'm looking for advice from anyone out there for how to take this to then next level. Thanks in advance.

I will put a call in to my wife's uncle this week. His father was a flight engineer on B-24s in Italy. He was shot down on his first mission over the ETO and spend the rest of the war as a POW. He put his thoughts together with pictures and had the book published to give to his children and grandchildren. Very professionally done.

I will try to find out how he did it and let you know.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to put this together and make it available to everyone. I would challenge anyone with more modern military experience to compare Scott's Dad's letters to his folks to the ones that you wrote during your training. I thought a few times I was reading my letters to my mother 60 years ago.
