I never quite learned how to wield the power of the internet for the purposes of aviation research, wonder if some kind soul could/would give me a quick tutorial? I want to find out about a specific aircraft that played a role back in the dim ancient youthful stage of my life, and happen to have a photo (scan of a Polaroid recently sent from a boyhood chum). Back in 1969-1970, when we "met" this a/c, we were advised that it was a McCoulloch J-2, and never forgot it. We were also informed that she was a demonstrator a/c that was touring, apparently trying to drum up sales. It was operating out of a vacant lot on the side of the Gulf Freeway just south of League City, back when there were a lot more vacant lots than occupied ones. ![]() So I was able to find this much..... http://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N4330G .....and from it, seem to understand that the a/c is still in existence, and yet being kept on the rolls of living machines. How am I doing so far? From further Googling I see there were some 80-odd of these things built, but I have no clue as to how to go from there, to get an idea of how many survive, and how many are still airworthy, etc.? Thanks in advance for any and all help! |

It's a McCullough J-2 auto gyro from the mid 60's. From the same folks who make/made chain saws-this popped up about the time they were trying to make Lake Havasu into a city and the pivot point for the industrial world. Neither ever panned out! ![]() |
