Chek with your bank, or check the webby sites that have aircraft for sale and look for the financial institutions that make the loans and contact them...seems only logical Gary the imitation Spock |

To expand on what Gary said above...get a copy of Trade-A-Plane...in it there are ads for banks that specialize in airplanes. You might have more luck with one of those than your local credit union. And keep in mind that if someone can't aford to pay for an airplane, he may not have been able to afford the nesessary maintence, repairs, ADs, annuals....

And pay attention to engine times vs TBO, and how long an airplane may have been sitting. Sitting unused kills engines, so the 100 hour SMOH means nothing if it's been parked in the hangar for ten years. Conversely a high time engine that's been used regularly and often may be in better shape and cheaper to overhaul. Engine overhauls (done right) are a substantial pile of cash. You should know what it will cost before you make a commitment. OTOH, that can also be a powerful negotiating tool |

Just for grins.... I just checked Craigslist for my neck of the woods and a few planes were listed. One deal I seen that maybe something for you to think about is a partnership in an aircraft. It's not full ownership but gets you in the seat to build up some time. |

I have about $9,500 and would like to buy a C-150(2) to teach my brothers to fly, still have a current CFI/CFII/MEI, and to go get a $100 hamburger out side of my airline flying. I was also thinking of doing a lease back to a flight school so if I pay in cash, I think I'd be able to make some money off of it. What I want to do eventually is a tail wheel conversion and maybe do tail wheel endorsements. What can I do as a non A&P and does anyone know the approximate cost of doing this? that would be the next thing I'd save for. |

Perhaps a kit available also? If not, maybe a search on-line of form 337's might turn up something..... |

Decent ones seem to start at $15-20,000. The tailwheel STC is called Texas Taildragger. I think you can get it for any 150/152. I'd like one on a straight-tail model wuith the rear window...so a 64-5. It would look (kinda, sorta) like a side-by-side O-1.

If I do a repaint, I was thinking of painting it to look like a 68th FG P-47 with OD and Neutral gray and checkerboard cowling. I'll keep doing my research. I'd like something flyable that I could slowly improve upon over time and make it really nice. Thanks guys. |
