A guy in Seattle did exactly the same thing in another 150 several years ago on approach to KBFI, over E. Marginal Way, a main North South corridor into and out of downtown, just before morning rush hour. SPD and SDOT (Seattle Dept of Transportation) had a LOT of fun redirecting Seattle traffic, which is notorious for gawkers block while passing some poor guy changing a flat tire, until a crane could be brought in to extract the pilot and then to remove the aircraft. I believe the poor guy in the 150 later was killed in a car acciddent.

one of our local heroes got killed flying into wires. He flew in ww2, korea, and vietnam! He would always buzz the town. In fact when flying back to Harrisburg in a P-47 he would flying low along the Susquhanna river the entire way flying under bridges and everything! :supz: He was later killed in a cub attempting to land in a hay field and flew into power lines. :(

The man that had this experience in Seattle was Mike Warren. He was killed in 2001 in a Yak 52 with Alexander Zuyev. Alex was a guy that defected from Russia with a Mig-29.

Dunnow, some guy in a 172 back in 1986 caught a guy wire and the airplane slid down the wire until it shorted out a 220K volt feeder which fortunately tripped it off before the airplane lit up. The pilot and an instructor were practicing instrument approaches and he didn't see the wires from under the hood, so he opened the door thinking the airplane was on it's back on the ground and discovered he was 90 feet off the ground-OOPSIE!
So it was scramble back into the upside down cabin and hang on until they could be extricated. His partner stayed strapped in, upside down until rescued.

I have to appologize. appparently the hamster used locally to power COMCAST is old and tired, and occasionally it just stops, boy oh boy, ain't much beats paying for high speed internet and then having to deal with 'Peggy' from the credit card ad to lodge a complaint.

Steve-

I was able to locate this on YouTube:

Flight hangs in high-tension wire in MG

It looks like this took place on February 7 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Using Google Translate, the video description reads:

The picture is awesome. The aircraft hit the high-voltage tower and hung for a few hours. The two people who occupied the plane was not injured. The accident happened near the airport Hafizabad.

Hope that helps!

Anthony

I used to have a recurring nightmare about hanging a C-15X in high tension wires between peaks somewhere. Odd dream. Glad I wasn't the guy in the picture.
