Post subject:  Neat! New Holland tractor uses turbo compounding

Not aircraft but I thought it was interesting.

First time I've heard of that technology being used since the the -3350. It is not quite the same setup, but uses a secondary turbo drive that is linked to the engine. Not much info out on it yet but there is a somewhat vague schematic here:

I can't tell if it's two turbos in series or a secondary turbo that is connected to the engine drive shaft like the R-3350.

I believe Saab Scania trucks had turbo compounding in the 80s and 90s. i remember hearing about that and could not believe it. nice to see somebody using the technology on a modern setup. thanks for posting.

Several truck have used turbo compound systems. Detroit Diesel had a really weird turbo compound supercharged two stroke diesel for a while. I still see a few used as pump motors down this way. Talk about a unique sound.
