Excerpted from a copywrite story by john M. Glionna, L.A. Times-

Namyangju, South Korea. There will be no more takeoffs for the Juan T. Trippe. The first 747 jetliner to carry commercial passengers,.............. has been cut up and scrapped by it's current owners. The owners. a Korean couple who did not wish to be identified purchased the airframe from a California scrapyard in 2000, paying $1 million dollars for the hull and another $100 thousand to have it shipped to Namyangju and reassembled as a noodle restaurant. The business went bust in 2005, and the couple searched in vain for a buyer. When none could be found, the decision was made to scrap her.......cranes were brought in and cut her up.

The Juan T. Trippe was RA 002, the second 747 built and operated by PAN AM as the first passenger configured airframe, RA 001 'The City of Everett' is on display outside the MoF @ KBFI. On a personal note, RA 002 was the first 747 I worked on in the factory back in 1968.
