My son and d-n-l just bought a house in the community of Fentress, Tx. between San Marcos and Luling. The first time we drove up there we came around a bend on Hiway 80 and there was this twin engine aircraft nosed into the ground next to the hiway! Denbigh laughed, as he was waiting for my reaction but it's an advertisement for "Skydive San Marcos". Dont know what it is but it was of the same general configuration as, say a Cessna 310. Low wing twin. Plywood tail and no n number. I didn't get a photo between trying not to hit something with the car and trying to spot the turnoff to their house.
Anyone seen this thing before?
Since I was last there Ive gotten a digital camera, and maybe one day I'll learn how to use photobucket.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but since you're talking about interesting signs with airplanes involved, here's a neat one I saw while driving back from the Air Races this year. (and no, I didn't visit the place.....it was closed  )

Wow... I am pretty impressed that a vintage WAAF "Opie & Anthony" W.O.W. bumper sticker made it all the way from Boston to Nevada to be found on that Beech 18.

I feel sorry for the plane though -- sad to say I think scrapping would be more dignified than the fate of being set dressing for a third rate brothel.

That's it, Mustanglover. I'll refrain from comment on the other.......

wHAT YOU CALLING THIRD RATE? You know from experience? If so tell us foreigners where the first rate ones are so we can check them out on our way to the races next year and give a first person report.

Legend has it that plane had landed at the airfield next to the brothel with a group of execs on board. After the evening's "festivities", they ground looped on take-off, and due to the damage to the plane it was abandoned on site. THAT'S got to be fun to explain to the wife/boss/shareholders!
