:D Here are a few from me.
Taken at Luskintyre earlier this year is this Pitts S2C belonging to Air Action. 31 years ago I started my flying training with the man who owns the company that owns this bird.

Very nice looking plane. Any idea if you could find out the technical name of the blue color on the airplane, and whether or not the logo is a decal or paint?

I am assuming this is the factory Ceconite fabric....?

My S-2B is being recovered this winter, and I am contemplating a blue color scheme on it.

Thanks!

:D G'day jaybird,
I could probably find that out for you over the next couple of days. I'm on good terms with the owner so it won't be too hard get that info. I'm pretty sure he bought it new from the factory about 5 years ago.

Cheers,
Ross.

Any luck Ross? Take a look at this color chart of Poly products:

http://www.poly-fiber.com/paints.htm

My guess is that it may be #173 or #177? Most paints on these samples look several shades lighter once they are put on a large surface. I know I have some #170 stripes on it currently, and they definitely look lighter than the sample.

Thanks for your help.

Jason

:D Hello Jaybird,
I'm sorry, I haven't been able to get to Rutherford or many other places for that matter since November 29. I tore a ligament in my right leg at work on November 14 but have been in a splint since November 29 so I can't drive and I've either had my elderly mother driving me or catching buses locally and walking to work. Fortunately I'm back at work on light duties and hopefully I'll get the splint off a week tomorrow. If they say I can do without it I'll be able to drive again so I'll take a little trip to Rutherford and ask the owner. To my eyes it appears to be 170 Bahama Blue but it may be 173 True Blue. Knowing Phil as long as I have I'd say he'd choose True Blue, being a true blue Aussie and all, but I've been known to be wrong in the past so I'll ask him just to be sure.

Cheers and all the best for the New Year to you,
Ross.

Hey no problem Ross. Sorry to hear about your injury. As a motocross racer, I've had to deal with a few injuries, so I certainly sympathize with you.

The color could be a Randolph color, of course though. Either way, I'm just curious. I'm going to go with either a medium to dark blue, or a dark green, then add silver and white stripes.

Heal soon!

Jason
