JC's Parrothead colors

Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:53 am

Hi Guys,
I have just started racing large scale here in Australia and at my first event won with my 1/5th P40, although it looks nice in its current color scheme I was hoping JC might help me out with some info regarding Parrothead as I would love to redo it in his scheme.

I have looked around and found plenty of pics of Parrothead but very little info on what the actual colors are and a bit of history as to how he came up with the idea. I really like the idea of not having a scheme the same as everyone else and since Parrothead is an actual racer it suits my P40 even more.
thanks
Byron

Try this P-40 from Napier Field Alabama.

Thanks Mark, there are some good pics in there, I more need to know what the actual colors are though. I'm not sure as to what to order in the way of tan/light brown/khaki and are the small semi circles on the wing and tail done in something other than olive drab?

This might help Olive drab over neutral grey with medium green Splotches.

Heres a build article http://www.arcair.com/Gal5/4801-4900/ga ... rn/00.shtm

Hope this helps.

Mix and blend different paint colors like the 1:1 artists did it. O.D. and a dab of yellow and white gives you a tan tone that you can then adjust to your liking. I believe Tony Starcer had about 6 or 7 colors available when he did Memphis Belle.
