For those of you interested in the vast area outside earth's atmoshere known as space-the final frontier, you might want to check out Space Fest at the NMUSAF May 11th & 12th. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/news/s ... =123297723. It seems this could be very interesting!

I couldn't believe they don't have an Atlas at the NMUSAF.
Anyone know if they have plans to get one?

As I understand it, the ATLAS needs to be fueled or at least full or it will collapse from the weight of itself and the tinfoil thickness skins,
SI? NO? Beuhler? Beuhler??

The one that was outdoors in the 70s-90s collapsed for that reason, circa 1995. One night its generator pump went out and it went limp. :(
They had a reinforced (with angle iron) one from IIRC, the Franklin Institute, in front of the restoration area but I don't thik it was ever displayed.

There's a Mercury Atlas at the Queens NY Hall of Science. Recently fully restored it's been there since the '64 Worlds Fair.
