Customer unknown since it's a private aircraft, but this morning 2/28/12 @ KPAE's Future of Flight, Boeing will deliver the first non freighter version of the 747-8 Intercontinental which will fly to an undisclosed Modification Center to become someones ultimate toy.

According to an article in this mornings Everett HERALD says the aircraft flew to Wichita to have an overhead crew rest module installed in the aft cabin, then it's off to a completion center in Germany for a two year interior mod which ought to be over the top gaudy and obnoxious given the customer.

According to a spotters' website there, it called in at Vancouver BC.

This used to be a dodge to avoid WA sales tax but I thought that law had changed years ago

That's how paying Washington States sales tax is avoided. Several times while @ BADWRENCH on the mod program we'd have to wait until a just about to be delivered aircraft flew to Las Vegas for 'lunch'.
Once we were waiting for a new 757 out of Renton that went to Vegas for 'lunch' pop2 , it was several hours late getting KPAE and when it rolled to a stop on our ramp the L/H FED opened and out came a deflated #1 door emergency slide that had somehow been tripped in flight and unfolded in the forward entryway. We all about fell on the ramp laughing as the Rep, a well known long time friend of BFG told the story of subduing this writhing hissing snake with a 2 inch pocket knife with dozens of slashing strokes while in flight.     :supz:
It might have had something to do with exporting, the airplane had to leave the territorial U.S. to be allowed to go on to Witchita, we would deliver export aircraft that had a Boeing 'paper' N number over the customer countries real registration on sign painters masking paper and it had to stay put until it arrived in it's new nation in cases where it may need to land in Hawaii or Alaska to refuel on it's journey home. Just more Gummint pettifoggery
