What is this homebuilt?

Two questions come to mind with this photo....

First: What is this airplane?

Second: Does thinking about climbing in like this make you uncomfortable too?

If that is a genuine photo, I'd say it is way past uncomfortable for most people and into nuts.

The plane may be a hyperbipe or similar.

Best Guess is Sorrell Hiperlight.

Ultralight.

YEP! Sorrell HYPER LITE built by the Sorrell Brothers as a kit over 30 years ago during the first blossoming of Ultralight aircraft from the Centralia, WA. area. They also had a kit for the 'HYPERBIPE' that was a very quick and extremely maneuverable 2 seat home built that used, I think an O-200 and was blinding fast and pretty aerobatic too.
I'd occasionally see them 'playing' around the Centralia area during camping trips to places like Miller-Sylvania state campgrounds in the early 80's. Both darned good, safe, and reliable fliers.

According to a GOOGLE check, someone has bought up all the parts and designs and plans and is going back into business with them, while Sorrell is working on a new design that I guess he hopes to unveil @ OSH this year-the power on the HYPERBIPE originals was an IO-360 installed in something so light you needed to put a brick on it to keep it from blowing away-that'll knock the cooties outta your hair!!
