AIRLINES ARE SAFE FOR 2 YEARS!

Let's give airlines their due. For the first time in history, for the last 2 years all the major U S airlines have flown without a passenger fatality. The recent Continental accident in Denver was not part of this time span, and luckily there were injuries, but no fatals.

Now they may hijack/kidnap you to sit on the tarmac until you expire of old age, or they may harass you to no end going through TSA, or it may be dangerous to hold some of their stocks in their portfolio, but this is a fine record.

Congrats to Paul, Eddie, etc. I think the explanation is likely that the stews got so old that these guys can now keep their mind on their work.

This forum is titled air racing, aerobatic, and GENERAL AVIATION. I think the post fits in just fine.

a pretty good record. Wonder what contributed to it the most? On one hand it seems like fewer flights means lower chance of things going pear shaped. On the other hand lower flights means overworked crews, short maintenance, and according to a lot of the mechanic types here, they're feeling worn thin and downright abused...

Is something finally going right or is this just luck?

Bill, I'm not sure older stews makes a difference. After all, pilots are getting older as well

Well, one would hope that airline flying would get safer as time goes on. Otherwise we aren't learning from our mistakes very well.

yeah, no kidding! Outstanding flying! Sad they're gonna make him retire in a coupe of years, but I guess he'll do well as an instructor or quality control guy...
