NATIONAL AIR TOUR reenactment. ten years ago already, geez... this was a beautiful day. hard work though, a looooong day. really cool though to wait and watch for each group of planes to arrive, despite the slow moving hours. most of the expectant throng were seniors, unsurprisingly. it WAS a weekday. when the big yellow one was overhead i have to confess my mindhole was blown. i did know what that was but have since lapsed. the pilot, i listened to him talk and man alive was he ever thick on the canadian bacon. his accent made the SCTV 'great white north' guys sound like BBC announcers. mostly i shot videoTAPE this day and not so many photos. this is all of those. rode the tri-motor. a few years later i got the right seat of another one. loved loved loved the trim control that was awkwardly placed behind the pilot.

The yellow one's a Fokker Super Universal.
Looking at your Trimotor ride pictures, I was reminded of my ride in N414H at Oshkosh back in 1977; I think you and I had the same seat 26 years apart.

That's my 1926 Ryan M-1 in the first three photos, now at Creve Coeur. I'm laying under the tail in 2 photos hooking up the tailwheel steering-

that was a wheel? i thought it was a skid. i really liked those lamps under the wing. i lived in chesterfield for a year, and would cruise around looking for trouble to get into. found hog hollow airport. saw some cool things down there. i snooped around and found landing gear to a P-36. accidently located the home to st. louis helicopter airways, who's ancient whirlybirds i had seen overnighting at blue ash in cincinnati. pretty sure i saw an airshow at creve coeur. saw a great airshow at scott AFB when i was a missouri guy. this was early '80's we're talking here.
