Curtiss-Reid Rambler

Sat Nov 02, 2013 9:26 am

Hi,

I am looking for documents/photos/parts (!?) related to the Curtiss-Reid Rambler. The Rambler was built in Montreal during the early 30's . The Canadian aviation heritage centre is building a MkII static replica and I have started the built for an airworthy Rambler I.
More info here and here.
I am looking for two engines, one ADC Cirrus II for the static replica and one DH Gipsy I engine.

Photos of Rambler are welcome, I am looking to complete the production list:

There is no surviving rambler know today. All kinds of helps are welcome.

Sounds like a really cool, ambitious project.
I'll keep my ear to the wind for engines.
They are out there, folks who have them are reluctant to part with them though.

Regarding the engine, this is why I am starting to look for it now even if I do not plan to be ready to install it before at least 2 years and half. Wings, landing gear are common to all versions (Mk I, Mk II and III). The mk III, flown by J Webster during the 1931 King's Cup was with a Gipsy Major, a lot more easy to find. This is my backup plan :)

I will update this thread as I collect information and with project's progression.
