If the NASM doesn't have the original interior, I'd politely ask what the point of restoring and displaying it.
The only thing that makes this aircraft special is the fact that JFK owned and flew in it. If you don't have a seat with his "rear print"
in it, it loses a gret deal of its historic value.NASM probably needs a Convair (but their collection does lack a lot of historic types) since it was a major type worldwide as a modern "DC-3 replacement" and this would be better than nothing, but I 'd hope that visitors would go away with the idea that Convairs were airliners as well as a rich man's private plane.
