Does anyone have any information/pictures of this plane either in storage or active? I believe it is still at Garber (I saw it sitting outside in the early 80's). Will it be re-assembled at the Hazy Center, does it need a full restoration, etc.? Any interior pictures out there? Thanks. |

APG85, I too remember "Caroline" outside and assembled at Garber in the 80's. She's still there, dissasembled inside, and will need a full restoration. The interior is fairly gutted. There is no "list" or plan on what will be restored when. The restoration team is currently on He219 WNr. 290202. The focus is moving the shop to the Hazy Center and getting it up and running. A huge job. I'll try to get you pictures of Caroline next week. Marauderman26 |

Great! Thanks for the update. I look forward to the pictures. Not sure why it would be gutted as I believe the aircraft was delivered intact... |

If the NASM doesn't have the original interior, I'd politely ask what the point of restoring and displaying it. The only thing that makes this aircraft special is the fact that JFK owned and flew in it. If you don't have a seat with his "rear print" ![]() NASM probably needs a Convair (but their collection does lack a lot of historic types) since it was a major type worldwide as a modern "DC-3 replacement" and this would be better than nothing, but I 'd hope that visitors would go away with the idea that Convairs were airliners as well as a rich man's private plane. |
