Hey everyone I was needing some help trying to find out some information regarding TWA's use of single aircraft mainly the use of Stinson SR series. I know TWA used them but not sure for what. Also I am not sure what model of the SR they used. There is a picture of a SR series Stinson with TWA painted on it in the AHM but no info. Any help would be great.

TWA used a number of single engine aircraft for route development. It being cheaper and easier to send a couple of pilots in a small aircraft to fly the proposed route and make notes of landmarks, facilities and any difficulties along the way than to divert a money making aircraft.
They were aslo used as 'hacks' for small package AOG, and internal courier services.

GOOGLE 'STINSON production lists' and find the site that lists 4150 Stinsons (40 pages worth!) If you've got an N # you might find exactly the airframe you're looking for.

TWA used at least two WACOS, an AVN-8 and an AGC-8 in 1938.
