Aren't all Great Lakes shipwrecks strictly 'HANDS OFF' for historic reasons?

I stopped reading Cussler decades ago like just after 'Vixen 03', too formulaic like a long winded Louie L'amour.

Yup, I think the last one I read was the ironclad in the desert thingy. Clancy was good but the gadgetry got to be, IMO, a bit "too Bond" in light of the realities of recent wars.

there are over 2000 unfound shipwrecks in lake erie alone. as to aircraft there are a few grumman avengers somewhere on the canadian side of the lake. then there are the 4 avro arrow rocket powered flying models in like 3/4 scale that are in lake ontario, never found either, & some canadian archeological wreck foundation mounted a search w/ the cooperation of the rcn with side scan radar equipment to search for them, but with no results.
