http://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675 ... -in-flight The aircraft is Wright Model B #27, the machine that Rogers was killed in at Long Beach, CA after his famous flight across the US in the Vin Fizz. Anybody know if the buildings are still there? - |

That is a great clip. While looking at it, I noticed an even MORE interesting film clip of a 1928 , 25th Anniversary of the Wright flight, that shows an early full-size "replica" of a Wright plane with VERY large ailerons ( instead of wing warping) on both upper and lower wings. http://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675 ... t-controls |

Intially, I thought he was going to takeoff downind, but he did do it properly into the wind. The guy in the white shirt wanted a good view and might have become a casualty if Cal hadn't pulled up in time to avoid the shrubbery. |

The last time it flew was 1924 apparently. - |
