Post subject:  Hornet Moth/Leopard Moth info source?

Hi all,

I'm very interesting in researching two rarer de Havilland types. The DH-87 Hornet Moth and the DH-85 Leopard Moth. I've googled and googled, but the most information I can find is on the wiki pages for them, which does not have the information I desire.

I'm wondering if any of you know of any books or better websites that have historical information, flight descriptions, etc about these airplanes? I'd like to find out more than just the speeds, weights, dimensions, and pictures. Am I out of luck, or is there something out there that meets my requirements?

Thanks,

David M

When you're in the Toronto area, you might be able to see a Hornet Moth. There's one at Brampton, owned by the redoubtable George Neal. It's in flyable condition.

I don't know of a Leopard Moth in Canada.

There's a Fox Moth you can ride in, at VWoC, which will be at the fly-in at Edenvale, the "Gathering of the Classics", Aug 07. (If I can get it there!)

Hi Dave,
There are a number of good books on DH covering the two types. If you give us a bit more of an idea of what you may be after, I may be able to make some recommendations.

The de Havilland moth Club is an excellent resource, and a great club - I used to be a member, but lapsed when I couldn't get to their annual rally any more. DH Heritage Support are the design authority on all legacy DH types and should be referred to for any formal paperwork or data enquires.

HTH!
