Fleet mag on/off indicator

Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:51 am

I am currently looking for an original or accurate copy of a mag on /off indicator
The unit itself is a bracket with red indicator that is on the outside of the fuselage. This unit attaches to the actual mag switch itself and moves with the on / off movement of the mag.
It's purpose was to enable a mechanic flipping a prop to see if the mags were live or not.

Please p.m. me if you have one or a lead

Thanks

Have you contacted Bob Revell or Tom Dietrich?

And a fine mag-indicator it is!

Cam, I flew ours at VWoC, and the Mixture is Forward for Rich (the opposite of the BCATP Moth and Harvard), and the Fuel is Up for On.

What was stock?

Dave
My Fleet and the VWC Fleet mixture are the same forward for rich back for lean and the T/boys is opposite, so I am guessing we are stock and the T/boys is not.
However, there is little in the way of detailed manuals for the Finch so who knows for sure.
As for the mag indicator, VWC and T/boys are both different from each other.
I am in the process of waiting for an actual blueprint for the proper indicator and will have an accurate one made if possible

For fuel on/off, both mine and the T/boys are UP = off , DOWN= on
This translates that the red teardrop ball on the rod points down in line with the fuel flow and up will translate as fuel cut off.
In your mind picture the fuel flowing from the top wing tank and this will make sense.
