Post subject:  Info needed on Lasco Lascoter and Lasconder

:), Hi everyone,
It's been quite a while since I last posted (a lot of shift work hours and overtime and a new garage.) It's good to see this site growing and helping aviation enthusiasts. It's also a while since I got to take any aircraft photos but hopefully I'll get to take some more soon. I am, however on the hunt for any information I can come across regarding two one off Aussie types from the late 1920s.

I'm searching for any info on the Lasco Lascoter and Lasconder. The Lascoter was a single engined 6 seater air taxi and the Lasconder was a tri-motor 8 seater (I think) airliner. The Lasconder looked quite a bit like a large Kreuzer Aircoach. I have some reasonable to good photos on the web (Ed Coates collection and a good direct side on pic of the Lasconder on Wikipedia) but no dimensional information.

Can anyone help me here? JDK, do you have any info about these two almost unknown but historically important aircraft to the Australian aviation scene. The Lasconder apparently came to grief somewhere in Northern Australia (Daly Waters?) and the Lascoter was found in the back of the former Lasco hangar at Coode Island during WW2 by RAAF groundies and carted off to the scrap heap as a pile of useless junk. If only those personnel had known what they were condemning. What would such an aircraft be worth in flying condition today. I think more even than a Genairco Cabin.

Cheers,
Ross.

Ross, the "Flight" magazine archive yielded some interesting period articles on these birds.
Oddly I got more hits on both aircraft by using Lascoter as the searchword. No dimensions
but informative reading...

:)Many thanks airnutz. I'll google under Lascoter and see what I find. I had previously found some of the Flight articles. I guess I'll just have to keep searching. Again, thank you.

Cheers,
Ross.

Ross, the first volume of Keith Meggs book has all the information on the Lascoter and Lascondor that you could need. PM me.

:D, G'day Derek,
I'd be guessing that you're Derek Buckmaster of DB Design Bureau. It's good to see you here. I actually found the Lascoter first on your site and then on Eddie Coates photo site of early Australian aircraft. Many thanks for your very helpful reply to my enquiry. I copied your drawing of the Amsco Monoplane and reduced that copy to 1/72 scale. Now I'll have to do it ll again seeing you have modified the drawing with a more accurate engine. I hope you don't mind as I didn't know how to contact you before now. A pm is inbound.

Cheers,
Ross.

Hi Ross,
yes, that's me. Glad to be of assistance :)

By the way, here's a current list of my projects for the website:
  • Detailed CAD drawings for CAC Wirraway, Ceres and Boomerang
  • Revisions to my CAD drawings of the CAC Wackett (with more dimensional information)
  • Drafting Wikipedia article for Wackett Warrigal (just completed the Wackett Widgeon article) and corrections to the CAC Ceres article

That keeps me busy in the time I have left after work and family!

Cheers,
Derek
