I seem to have stumbled into my newest career: world famous propeller carver. It all started very recently, when I was asked if I could carve a display-only prop for a Fokker D.VII replica, and I said of course. While waiting for plans to arrive I used a set published in a magazine article to make these, which work out to be 1/4 scale, as test subjects. Well, these are actually Axial props made for 110-hp rotary/Dr.I triplane, but are very close to the D.VII prop for the Mercedes DIII engine, which what I'll be making in full size (9-foot diameter). ![]() I'm kinda new to all this WWI stuff, hope I've typed all my aircraft and engine designations correctly. Anyway, I'm looking for all the help I can get, and wonder if anyone here on WIX happens to make wooden props, or knows who does that I might contact? These were made from plans generated by Achim Engels. In fact, I'll be sending him one as a thank you gift for all his generous and enthusiastic help so far. For Achim's stuff see: http://www.holzpropeller.de/index_english.htm |

Thanks! Never thought about a Yahoo group even though I belong to several of them. |

Did you hand carve both of them or use a pantograph rig? |
