The Knoll aircraft website is here: http://www.pknoll.net/knoll_aircraft/aircraftco.htm I would also be interested in a nice scan of a April 1929 Aero Digest. I have a rather grainy copy of a photocopy but would like to extract more data with a good scan. |

Did the airplane receive an Approved Type Certificate? If so, you can can photos in the U.S. Civil Aircraft volumes by Jos. P. Juptner. Otherwise, I have aircraft yearbooks from 1928-29 that would also have it as well as lots of magazines from the late 20's that I can look through. |

Waco, I am not sure if it received the Approved Type Certificate, or not. I do know that they sold four of the KN-1's before going under due to the Great Depression. If you run across anything let me know! I have a request to the Smithsonian but what I gathered from another volunteer is they don't have much info on the Knoll. I have a few magazine advertisements, though the best one is very grainy. Shame that a crashed one sat derelict aside a Mexican air force base until as recently as three years ago when they burned and recycled what was left of it ![]() |

A quick check of AERO FILES shows no ATC cert issued for KNOLL airframes in 1927-1930, but an even quicker scan of WIKI turns up several hits including pictures and plant location aerial pictures relative to modern times, of the KNOLL plant on 1st in beeeutyfull Witchita. The KN-1 photos show a fairly drab looking big windowed high wing monoplane- |

They probably went under before getting the type certificate. The google search you referenced sounds like the same website I listed in the first paragraph of my initial post. |

I looked through a couple of the HEAVY ![]() Barnbstormer, I would sure appreciate the help with any scans. the April 1929 was on and around page 215. The June 1929 was on and around page 231. That one (June) I have an extremely poor copy of a copy, and could mine much better data with a decent scan for the engine mounts, window frames, and landing gear. It gives a unique view with the engine swung away. You may want to check and see if there is an advertiser's index on those volumes, as that would point you to any ads. Also Aviation magazine March 9, 1929 advertisement. On and around page 709. Thank you! |

I looked through the appropriate Juptner's in case there was an error in Aerofiles. As Inspector noted, no ATC for Knoll. |
