MIDWEST ANTIQUE AIRPLANE CLUB GATHERING AT BRODHEAD

Had a fantastic week of weather here in the Mid-west and it certainly showed with the GRASSROOTS Fly-in at Brodhead, Wisconsin. Probably close to 250 aircraft attended. Here are some aircraft off the top of my head:

Ah yes...how could I forget the KR since it is based near me and we borrowed the owners hangar for 4 mos while my wife learned to fly in her Waco!

Hi Andy,

I think the late Dennis Thorne's Brunner Winkle Bird was also there! Would be great if you could load up some photos of the planes attending!

No Speedster Eric......that would be quite the sight as I have never seen one fly and I have been around this for 47 years! Just a Sportster and a Cloudster.

I examined a Menasco powered Speedster once...tucked up in the rafters of a garage. Complete and in easy rebuild condition. Rare rare bird. Might still be there. I'd have to shoot ya' if I told ya. Walked away from it....got bigger fish to fry.

I was hoping that when I saw it on the list at the top of this page that a new one was flying. I did get a nice shot of the one that was recently donated to the EAA museum to use in my next book, but I am always looking for another example of such a rare type. I guess the next Speedster we will see flying is the one that Tim Talon is just about finished restoring in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
