Does anyone know the status of the 1929 Davis D-1K, NC77N, serial 501?

The FAA Registration site says Sale Reported- San Carlos, CA. I never saw the airplane but growing up in Salem, Oregon I used to hear it sat on the farm of a mean old guy east of town (Brooks) named Don Metheny. He had a later model Monocoupe 90 as well, that was at Salem airport in the back of an old hangar until around 1965-66 when the hangar was torn down. Airport folks notified the bitter old farmer the hangar was coming down and he showed up on the ramp one evening waving a shotgun and making threats. I guess he trailered the Monocoupe out that night.

I'd love to see photos of the Davis (& Monocoupe 90) as recovered off the Metheney farm and find out if it ever was restored.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't find the NC77N images trying several ways.

I do see the one black & white photo with mountain background credited to Dan Shumaker and aerofiles.com on the Davismonoplane website.

What am I doing wrong?

Go out to the garage. Obtain the BFH (big flourescent hammer) and have a close discussion with your confusers tower----then a quick trip to Fryes in the morning

Thats how I describe it to my students, see I can't even utter 'darn' in class or some overly sensitive little P.O.S. runs to Boeing HR crying that I'm verbally abusing them and 'cursing'. And when the HR clown asks that person if they are absolutely sure the answer usually is ' F#$%&*#^$ yes!'

But that's OK because he or she is just freely expressing themself but I'm dog water.

The black one is 5 lbs. the yellow one is 10 lbs, the lime green one is 15 lbs. (for pyralene soft mallets)

Kind of reminds me of the BAS (Big A$$ Spring) the instructor in Nord ground schood taught us about when we learned the landing gear..... :lol:
