Got some photos today of Allan Lopez's Stearman M2. It was out of the hangar at Trenton Robbinsville for a while today.

The plane has not flown yet, but it is ready to go. Just waiting for the weather....

It is a beast for sure....as many times as I've seen it, I still sometimes stop, scratch my head and say "what the *&&^*!!!!!)

I believe this one came from the Yukon. It went into a lake, was pulled out and sat for years on the shore before it was recovered. They didn't have much to start with.

Was there a variant with an in line engine? I built a model of an M2 in the sixties and it seems like it had a long tapering nose with a squarish radiator. Or am I thinking of something similar? Mine was dark red plastic and I painted the wings white. That was probably incorrrect as blazes but I thought it looked good at the time. lol.

I believe they are both manufacturers designations.
