With that paint scheme, the A320 looks a bit like a DC-8. It's the shape of the nose....or am I crazy?

since united started out as Boeing company, at least they could have painted a Boeing in that livery first.

I believe that livery started with UAL introducing the DC-10 into service. UAL has abandoned the 737's and now runs the AIRBUS series of twins in their place. Just remember, you get what you pay for-

I remember an article from the late 70s...it said they wanted to update the 60s scheme (white with a blue cheatline and the staid "UNITED" serif-style letterering) because by the late 70s, it was looking a bit dated. The article said (almost unbelievably) that when they did a consumer focus group, some people actually thought that United was part of the government or Air Force!

So they changed the typeface and added stars.
For those of you too young to remember, thumb through a 1971-4 magazine and look at the clothes, popular colors, and ads...you'll see the "Friendship" scheme fits right in. Or listen to a "Fifth Dimension" tape on your 8-track. :)

We must limit politicians to two terms:
one in office and one in jail.
