Hi Gents,
Anybody have some pics and infos on performances and engines on the F-22. I used to have a Bakeng Deuce. sold it for my Bellanca Cruisair, but starting to think of a project like F-22. I need to fly again in open cockpit and the F-22 is the closest to my Deuce but real Antique, Just love it, Lot more visibility than biplane too. Not that I don't like biplane but have so many good memories from this parasol...I love the 22 Especially with the round engine. I know some had the Ranger and some had the hight maintenance radial...

I know that Dave Evans in Barrie, Ontario will be selling his Baking Deuce this spring. It's real nice with an 0-290-D2 engine in it. PM me if you are interested.

You have two people on here with quite a bit of time with a Fairchild F.22. A Ranger engine was not a choice of engine available for the F.22. Menasco, Warner and I believe a Wright Gypsy were the engines. Menasco's are very hard to get any parts for in any model and finding someone to work on them is even harder. I believe Al Ball is the only one around who will touch one. The Warners are also tough to get parts for but not as bad as a Menasco. Expect to pay $30K for an overhauled 145 Warner. Again, finding anyone who will work on one is very tough and I can speak with authority on this one as we own two Warner-powered Wacos. Forget the Wright Gypsy as parts are impossible to find plus you have low performance using that engine as I believe it was only 90hp.

Don't mean to throw a wrench into your dream but that is quite possibly why you do not see more flying. My guess is that there are about 10 still flying using various engines.

I have a good project for sale for 17K. Complete airframe in undamaged condition with good paperwork and logs. Missing engine and inst.
My plan was to use the LOM engine instead of a Cirrus or Menasco. This retains the inline look , gives more power at same or less weight.
I am currently restoring a Bucker Jungmann and am using the LOM for it. I have not run it yet but there are others in area and they really like that engine.

Either that or a Gipsy Major.
