Ten years ago I saw one modified into a Guppy flown by Ericsson Air service?

Only the KC-97's are left.
Apparently the Super Guppy guys had the last one and they scrapped it sometime after 1979...

How about the one in front of the hotel at House on the Rock in Wisconsin. I don't think it is a KC.

The one I saw was in the early 90's at AFW airport. It had the crew door opening on the right hand side versus the left side for a KC. It also had prop spinners. The horizontal stab had extensions added to widen it, and inboard wing extensions to allow propeller clearance on the fuselage. The name was Erickson Sky Crane? It came in to pick up a huge Sky Crane type helicopter (sorry, I don't know helicopters).

My late dad had some hours in these while flying for Pan American. One, 30V, was the first commercial airliner to fly to Antarctica in October of 1957. The entire crew was all chosen by seniority. Ralph Savory was the Captain & my dad was the 1st Officer. The USN made a big deal out of it even though they were only on the ice for around 3 hours. I have some of my dads slides showing 30V on that trip and also mothballed @ SFO just a year or two after. That flight originated out of Christchurch, NZ.

Tillamook museum has the 377 (Guppy) I saw back in the early 90s at AFW.

Mr. Lacy's KC-97 at Greybull will eventually be restored as a B377. While it'll not be historically a B377, my understanding of the differences leads me to believe that it will structurally be identical with the modifications that are being performed and may even be re-registered as a B377 when complete.

Eric, the one at Dodgeville, Wis. is a C-97G, ser. # 52-2764. N227AR. I started a thread about it a couple of years ago here but I'm not real good at digging up old stuff here.
