It is a great event, and they have one that is open to the public the weekend before Oshkosh. The Monocoupe is actually a Mullicoupe (SP). It's a 450 horsepower Pratt and Whitney powered high performance homebuilt that is intended to be a Monocoupe crossed with a Howard. Very impressive airplane. I (and Chris Price) was flying the Hisso powered Curtiss Jenny.

Wacoykc, how about identification of the excellent pix? I'm especially curious about the silver/yellow open cockpit with the big landing struts.

Yes, please do and thanks. You ragwing guys will be proud of me. I spent the day at Lone Star Saturday working on the Tiger Moth that IS better off than it looked and will be taken to the shop of a museum member for restoration.
Unfortunately it was just too far down the priority list to work on right away. I did some conservation work on it two weeks ago but just didnt' have much time around other assigned tasks.
We still have a monumental undertaking ahead but progress is being made.
The Tiger will be much closer to my home than Galveston so I offered my assistance to Tommy when he gets into it.

The Stinson Jr. is locally based near me on a private strip. I had a good time with him on the way to the Ford Model T Centennial in Hagerstown, Indiana back in July as I caught up with him enroute and was able to circle around him several times in my Waco Cabin and still beat him to a landing!!

:D Here's a few for Canso42. I hope you like these Doug. They are taken at a small private airfield about 25 miles away from where I live. I'm fortunate to have one of the airfield owners as a neighbour so I can go out there whenever I like.

The main activity is a Tiger Moth rebuild hangar. The two paid 'engineers' are both well in their 70s now and have both been working on Tiger Moths for over 50 years. Some Tigers outside the hangar being worked on. The one on the right is a total rebuild, the one on the left a major overhaul. The major overhaul aircraft has a long range tank in the front of the front cockpit while still retaining full dual controls
