At the Golden Age Air Museum, Bethel, PA (near Harrisburg)

It is to be painted like one of the Jennys belonging to famous Long Beach aviator Earl Daugherty in the early 1920s, like this one:

Earl had a number of Jennys and Canucks, and most of them were red with a blue arrow and white lettering over that. Some had striped rudders, and some had Daugherty's name on the top wing as well.

The Jenny project will be on display at the Museum Fall Fly-in this coming weekend, http://www.goldenageair.org/events.htm , along with other interesting aircraft....

That's great! I love to see that you guys are going with a Barnstormer scheme. What color will the wings be?

I wish we would have put a Barnstormer scheme on the Cannuck. Right now, it's finished with a "no paint" scheme and quite frankly, it's boring. I need to come up with some local St. Louis Barnstormer logos or paint jobs. Maybe I can talk my father into doing something a bit more intersting. The J-1 Standard is next in the shop and it's going back to the "Waldo Pepper" paint scheme it wore in the movie.

Wings will be red also. Paul thought it might be too much red, but I think that with all the struts and wires it will be broken up some, plus it will say DAUGHERTY in big white letters on the top of the top wing, and VENTURA GAS and OIL (I think) on the bottom of the bottom wings.

Daugherty had several Jennys, some seemed to have clear doped wings, and some with red wings. He also had a Canuck or two, such as the one used for the first aerial refueling:

With the Standard you could re-enact..... I'm sure Phil and Glen would go for it, trouble would be finding the gas can guy. But surely there must be some other good Canuck barnstorming schemes around.

I want to know what colors the Pup will be in next time around???

Is there such a thing as "too much red"? I can't wait to see the finished product!

I know of a certain line boy at Creve Coeur who would make an excellent "gas can boy" for a re-enactment. :D

Not sure about the Pup. I suspect they will go back to the scheme that Pat Tomlinson put on it back in the late 1960s when he built it. On the other hand, 40 years with the same scheme is a long time. Think about that, the replica is 40 years old and the engine is about 90 years old. When was the first OX-5 built? It's got to be nearing it's 100th year right?
