Herbert S. Fyfield, Jr. lived in Connecticut and was owner of the Fyfield Collection. He was pretty reclusive and he died in 1989, but had an unusual collection of aircraft.
Does anybody know anything about him?
Photos of aircraft?
I know he had an Ansaldo SVA. 9 that went to Italy, but I believe he had a Jenny, Waco CG-4A and a Thomas Morse Scout. He may have had more, but I'm not sure.
Anybody got anything on these aircraft?
Thanks.
Jerry

I know he was my great uncle and I last saw him in 1988 and remembered many days of searching through his hanger looking at everything he had collected, including the Ansaldo. Alot of good memories.

Pete;
That must have been fun and amazing seeing that collection!
I've never seen photos of any of his aircraft but I'd like to locate some and find out where the aircraft were dispersed to.
Do you have any idea what happened to the other aircraft?
Jerry

Jerry,

I haven't a clue but I will ask around the family to see what I can find out. His brother Rod Fyfield still lives in CT and I am sure he has some info. It seems that all my family has been involved with aviation and as a teenager it was just another family members hanger full of planes and helicopters. I remember that summer heading over to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and getting tour of the aircraft from Cole Palen who was a good friend of Herbs. Great memories, thanks!
