Post subject:  Pearl Harbor Aeronca
I just read the "untold stories of Pearl Harbor" in the new Flight Journal, and they listed all the civilian birds that got shot down. One was an Aeronca that I presume made it down ok or crashed, either way it survives and said it was in Texas awaiting a rebuild, does anybody know where it is? That in itself is amazing that its still around considering that two J-3's are still missing with there pilots! Thanks.

About a year or so ago, there was a posting on the main WIX board about the aircraft that were atually in the air during the attack. Using the Search feature and some key words, you may be able to locate it.

Yeah..a fellow with an Interstate Cadet which had in its logbook an entry for Dec. 7
The guy posted some pics of its restoration..it oughta be in the air by now.

One of our Canadian friends suggested it was an Interstate Collegiate which
was in the air on Dec. 7. The guy with the Cadet didn't reply...or post again.

Aeronca tc N33768 was in the air that morning. I have spoken with the son who was in the aircraft with his father during the attack(really a neat story to hear it from his point of view). It's now hanging in the terminal in HI. I still have the paperwork and bill of sale from the factory to the lady who ran the flying school on the Island.

According to the article there were three Aeronca's, one Interstate Cadet, and four Cub's, two cubs with their pilots and A/C still missing! The Aeronca in question was the first airplane "attacked"! While one of the Cub's was the first plane shot down with the pilot bailing out!! :shock:
I would still like to know where that one Aeronca is here in Texas?
