No, just needs a completely new board of directors intstead of the current bunch of mostly incompetent, vindictive jerks. Unfortunately the people from NY State Govt who could do something about it are an equally disappointing bunch of beaurocratic nincompoops.

Ok, that was weird. What's the deal with the music...? That place just isn't what it was when I was a kid...sadly. Maybe it's time to sell off the collection for it's own good. Thoughts?

Certainty not! Theres a certain aura and magic there, much like Geneseo to me. I would say that certain things need to get shifted and reorganized. But not to close up shop!

I agree, it is a neat place in a great setting especially in the Fall. It disgusts me what they've done with the Spirit of St. Louis replica they were working on. One of the most detailed and accurate ones built to date and they quit working on it and used it as a "taxi airframe" for the crowds...un-finished... :?

Really too bad, as the aircraft had just been rebuilt, and it was the best pilot they have there, and one of the few good guys left there.

Glad the pilot is reported to be okay. Any "after" pictures of the airplane yet?

I too am very glad to hear about the pilots safety. From the video, it sure looks like the Avro was almost dropping straight down from that altitude.

I hope some speedy decisions wont be taken by the people in charge after these accidents. It seems more of human nature that when a few rocks in the road appear (All be it these are a few VERY BIG ROCKS) that something needs to change.

I hope something does get looked at as far as the board of directors are concerned. But Im afraid that something drastic might follow through that might be too hasty.

What do you guys think?

I know very little about the Rhinebeck folks, but are the issues y'all are talking about just leadership issues, or is it other stuff? Bad volunteer help? Arrogant "flying club" mentality? Unskilled pilots? Unskilled mechanics?

The reason I ask is that poor leadership, for example, didn't cause that engine to quit during that flight. However, it can cause situations to where proper maintenance isn't "encouraged," and just having the airplanes in the air becomes more important to them. Kind of like the old flying school saying of "if it ain't in the air, it ain't making us any money."

Or are they just having an incredible streak of bad luck?

Not trying to stir it up, but I'm genuinely curious.

Gary
