I've been having a discussion re: hydraulic lock, and I don't have a photo of the drains on the 2 lower cylinders of the 760-8 that's on the VWC Waco Taperwing.

My memory isn't quite exact. Can anyone tell me if these Wright quick-drains (to avoid hydraulic lock) are on the cylinder barrells or on the intake manifolds to those 2 cylinders? Anyone have a photo?

Thanks,

Dave

Most likely on the manifolds if someone modified them that way. They never came with them. Our R760E-2 hydraulic locks all the time....nature of the beast. As far as my Jacobs goes.....they have put drains in the manifolds AND have put drain tees in the hosing between the cylinders so that they form a "Y" to a single drain.

I'll ask my dad. I don't recall any lower cylinder drains on the Wright in his Taperwing. We pulled the front bottom plugs and ran it for a minute (then I got to clean up the mess for a couple of hours ;-))

Well... Mr. Lyjak... that's a well known name in Taperwing circles. Thanks for the reply.

However it seems Vintage Wings has sold the Taperwing, so my involvment has ceased -- until I can find another one!

Thanks anyway. But anything your Dad would like too contribute about the Waco would be most welcome.

Hi Andy,

It went to the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskwin Alberta. I'm not sure if it'll fly once it gets there. I don't think so.

It's apart in our hangar at the moment, awaiting shipping.
