A few shots from this past weekend and filming for a new documentary about the 1929 Powder Puff Derby, taken by Joe Santana (owner/pilot of the green/cream Travel Air) at the Golden Age Air Museum at Grimes Airport, Pennsylvania--
Starting line, Monocoupe (Phoebe Omlie won the light plane class in the '29 derby), Fleet (Jessie Kieth-Miller in '29), Travel Air 4000 (flown by several pilots in '29), Speedwing Travel Air (Louise Thaden won overall PP Derby), and Waco (Gladys O'Donnell 2nd place in '29)
The two Travel Airs
Bird biplane in background, we used it for a camera ship, along with a Breezy and a Cub, and the Waco.
Getting ready to go up in the Travel Air to buzz a Model A Ford, simulating Pancho Barnes' unfortunate close enounter with a car at one stop.
