It hasn't flown since the 1970s I think, maybe '80s, so needs a thorough rebuild. I wonder how they're going to check the 80 year old glue joints. The Facebook page says that it's going to Kevin Kimball for the work, who built Kermit's Gee Bee. Kevin will do it right.

Beautiful airplane. It would be nice to see it restored to it's original appearance/configuration...as much as I like The Winnie Mae...

Agreed. Somebody in Colorado has reserved the old N number,
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... &x=19&y=13, would be nice to see it back on the Vega.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was just being put into annual again. What a classic aircraft. My vote, as if I had one, is to put it back into its original livery. Hopefully the restoration won't take too long.

I would go for the original livery and config, complete with typewriter too.
Very, very cool and I believe it would be the only wooden Vega flying also.

Sounds like a prudent plan.
Really, this is great news. Come on how many Mustangs are flying out there? This is gouing to be something unique.
Good luck Kermit!
