Restoration Shop for a Stinson SR-7 Gullwing

Thu Jun 30, 2011 11:59 am

Last year I was compiling a list of restoration shops that had Gullwing Stinson experience, but my computer crashed and that list is now gone (I hate computers sometimes!)

Buried deep in the back of a hangar we have a basketcase SR-7 project that had been through a couple of abortive restorations attempts before we acquired it, and it's going to need a Stinson expert to put it back together again. Can anyone recommend any shops with Gullwing experience? I'll write down the list this time.

Click on this link to go to my list of restoration shops on my site...

I would talk to Rare Aircraft first and then see who they recommend.

Hope this helps!

Check out Rodney Roy at Roy Aero Service in Grand Marais, MN. He's done a number of Gullwings including the ex-Shell-Doolittle SR-10 which has been making the rounds over the past few years. I spoke to him and toured his shop a number of years ago when my future wife lived in GM. He had a couple in progress at the time. Excellent workmanship. He's also the manager of the Cook County MN Airport, where his shop is located.

Interesting thread

Up here in Canada, I operate an Aircraft Scrap Yard,

Cleaning out the back 40 we just came upon an old set of Gull Wings.
Pretty bad shape but maybe some bits would be useable for someone.
No idea of their history tas they arrived way before my time.
