Any Wixers have there Ford Tri-Motor Rating?

Sat Jun 25, 2011 1:23 pm

I was just wondering if anyone here has there rating for the Ford Tri-motor? I had the great opportunity to fly in GCA's 1929 Ford Tri-Motor last year in the co-pilot seat. I worked up there for 6 months as a A&P mechanic for the summer it was great. I was told during the flight from the pilot that i could stick my arm out the window because the Tri-motor is like a slow moving truck in the air. I tried to post pics but couldn't figure it out.

There are a few folks that mostly lurk around here that do have their tri-motor rating, including at least one tri-motor owner. They may rear their heads eventually if you have specific questions. If you do have questions, post them and you might be surprised at the answers you get!

The model 4AT does not require a Type Rating as it is less than 12,500lb GW.

The model 5AT DOES require a Type Rating.
