Northrup Alpha

Besides the one in the Smithsonian, are there any Northrup Alpha's around?

I believe you mean Northrup Alpha as Lockheed never built an Alpha.
The answer is yes, there are remains to another Northrup Alpha in existance.

True, but even Northrop has made vinyl stickers spelled Northrup, which were quickly corrected before application of course.

The few that were operated by airlines disappeared when the CAA outlawed single engined scheduled airliners in the mid 30's.

I love the single engine airliners. Real period pieces.

The greatest piece of aviation heritage the USA has lost to an overseas collection is the sole remaining Lockheed Orion that was part of the Tallmantz Auction.
It's now in the Swiss Aviation Museum. The NASM really needs a SE airliner.

There was a Vultee flying in California back in the70s...anyone know where it is?

I believe the V-1A is in Richmond, VA at the museum there.

Back in the early 1970's there was what I thought to be an Alpha, at Downtown Airport in Kansas City, but it turns out that it was a Delta...Still a cool old plane. It was being rebuilt from the ground up, and I recall an older lady was doing most of the work. After the aircraft was completed, the story is that the Delta crashed due to fuel starvation. Luckily nobody was hurt, and the airframe once again went under rebuild....Don't know where the aircraft went since then...
