My Dad was a USAF pilot based at Burtonwood RAF Base near Liverpool, England from 1951-55. He carried a camera as he enjoyed taking color slides. When he was transferred back to the states (Mitchel Field on Long Island) we flew home on this Seaboard & Western Connie. S & W later morphed into Flying Tigers and now FedEx. That's the terminal building at Burtonwood. One of my sister's and I were born on the base......

Notice the C-47 and the tail of a C-124 in the background. Dad mainly flew C-47s.

KLM Connie at Schipol Airport.

While based at Burtonwood, Dad flew all over Europe, including into Paris Orly.

The folks took their Hillman Minx on this Bristol 170 over to France for a long driving vacation in 1955..... They sat in the rear of the plane! My sister and I were babies and stayed back on base with our British nanny!

I've got a few more of his color slides that I'll post later.........
