This time I'm relying on a poor quality photograph rather than a very obscure type to try to stump you guys.

When I first saw it, I wanted to say an Aeronca 50 (pre-war Chief), but now I have my doubts...then again...I'm going with Aeronca 50.

I thnk all Porterfields had parallel wing struts, i.e. the struts did not tie together at a single fuselage fitting.

I dug around and am fairly certain now it is a Aeronca Chief 50 or a very early (pre-war) Aeronca Chief 65. The cowling is the giveaway. Post-war Chiefs had a smooth, rounded cowling.

It would appear to be a pre-war chief with the d window and the 50 "up exhaust" Continental. The obvious aileron horn/hinge is what clicks for me....

Well done, guys. Although this one seemed to be a little tougher for you, I have never favored name-that-plane quizzes that rely on bad photos or photos of just pieces of an airplane to be difficult. So today's quiz will be of the proper kind, a good clear photo of an obscure type, and I'm sure you will make quick work of it.
