Transport Canada website is showing Lockheed 12A, S/N 1222, N18125 as being imported to Canada. Does anyone have photos or info on this 12A?
Thanks,
Brian...

Yes... I now have pictures of this machine. This was Mr. Darden's 12 that was based in South Carolina for many years. I'll resize the image and post it here in the next day or two. Appears to be a very original airframe with very few modifications.
More Lockheed 10 and 12 info on my web site...

Is Mr. Darden still with us? I met his daughter 2 years ago when she flew the OTW up... at least I think it was his daughter.
Didn't he have a DC-2 at one time?

Yes he is. He sold the DC-2 overseas a few years back. His Douglas Dolphin went to the Navy museum. The Lockheed recently sold and his Spartan is now for sale. Guess at somepoint the time comes to sell the toys.

Here is the pic of SN1222 - refurb has commenced. Interior, panel and some wing skins receiving attention.
S/N 1222, CF-MZE (was N18125) - sold by Colgate Darden to Peter Ramm of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada

Thanks Dan,
Nice looking plane. Do you know any of the history behind it?

Actually this is not the one you have seen at Oshkosh. They both wear the same paint scheme so that is a common mistake.
Hopefully the new owner will make some airshows (like Oshkosh) in it!

Brian....
Quick history - Varney Air Transport 1937, Continental Airlines 1937, Dept. of National Defense as CF-BRQ 1940, McInnes Products 1945, The Texas Co (TEXACO) 1945, Nobel Drilling 1948, Tulsa Beechcraft 1948, Colgate Darden 1966.
So Mr. Darden had it quite a while!

Hi Dan
Thanks much for the info, 41 years with the same owner, wow ! Interesting to see that the 12A has some RCAF history, looks like its service serial number was RCAF7837. Guess it qualifies as a warbird.
The aircraft is currently under restoration?
Thanks again for the info and btw, I found the below photo online.
All the best,
Brian....

Yes... I saw the RCAF history and thought, cool! It returns to Canada where it once served! Yes... under restoration or clean up. Wouldnt say a complete restoration because I have pics of it with the interior being cleaned up and one wing skin being replaced. Sounds like the new owner wants to fly it this summer.

Hi Dan,
I'm not sure but I think the Lockheed 12A might have served with No.12 Squadron Rockcliffe (Ottawa). The squadron flew a variety of aircraft including 12A's in a communications and light transport role. I wonder if the new owner is gonna go with the RCAF look?
Thanks again for the info and photo, if you get more news or pics of the 12A, please let us know.
All the best,
Brian....

I flew into St. Catharines today, got a look at this aircraft as well as his L-39 Albatross and new build Waco Biplane, and others. I'll put a few pictures up of it's current state when I am more awake.

Joe Shepherd’s LOCKHEED 12A N2072 has been seen flying in Georgia, after 20 year of down time. The restoration inside the cabin is still in the work along with the paint job. I will try to get some photos.
