Has anyone done a replica of either the P-47 or P-38 flown by these guys from 44 through the end of the war. Would love to see an accurate depiction of their paint schemes. Would also be interested in commissioning a particular P-47 Razorback.

Thanks for any info.

Scott

I too would be interested, since my father-in-law was in that sq. from North Africa to the CBI.

His name was James Hill Ingram but went by Jimmy.

I am re-reading his memoirs now to refresh my memory.

I know he went over on the Anne Arundel with the convoy of Oct '42.
The P-40F's were on the carrier USS Chentango.
Landed in Port Lyautey but shortly went to Cassablanca.

He was with the 33rd/60th from Torch until CBI and was lead Radio on P-40's and P-47's.

He passed on on June 6th 2002 from cancer, he was a hell of a guy.
I miss him greatly.

Where can I find this book on the 33rd Nomads?

Google James Reed Fighting Nomads and you'll get lots of sources. I will try to send you Reed's contact info when I get home as I think that you can still buy autographed sets from him directly. Otherwise, you have Amazon et al for used and out of print copies.

When did your father in law return from CBI?

Not sure when he actually left the CBI, but was at March AFB after disembarking in Jan '45, and granted 15 day leave.
He went to Harlingen TX (hometown) where he married Lyle Mae of Pittsburg PA. on Janurary 27, 1945.
Mom worked at the Pentagon when it opened in 1943 until 45 when she became a Texan.

I am very interested in the book.
I can still ask mom about the days, since she lives with us now.
